Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Tuesday, October 10. The ASX 200 index closes 1 per cent higher at 7040.60 points, its biggest one-day gain since September 15, with all sectors in the green. Wall Street ended higher.

The Aussie dollar is near US64.11c.
