Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Monday, November 14. The ASX 200 ends slightly down. EQT Holdings wins Treasurer's approval for $135m Australian Executor Trustees buy. Way to go on US inflation: FOMC's Christopher Waller tells UBS conference. Warrego soars on Beach's $246m bid. Flight Centre's earnings turn around.

The ASX 200 ends slightly down, 0.2 per cent lower at flat at 7146.3.

AGL investors will meet on Tuesday as Mike Cannon-Brooks is poised to win his board stoush and Medibank will also front shareholders on Wednesday as it deals with the implications of the hacking of customer data.

Investors will also parse wages data due on Wednesday along with Thursday’s labour force update for October.

On Wall Street posted its biggest gains in months last week amid hopes inflation in the US is cooling and signs China is beginning to relax its strict Covid-19 restrictions. The benchmark S&P 500 jumped 0.9 per cent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average firmed 0.1 per cent and the Nasdaq vaulted 1.9 per cent.

US 10-year bond yields fell to near 3.81 per cent and US two-year yields are lower at 4.33 per cent.

Bitcoin, ethereum and other cryptocurrencies are lower amid the spectacular collapse of FTX.

Oil prices rose with the global benchmark Brent crude up 2.5 per cent to $US95.99 per barrel and the US Nymex nearly 3 per cent higher at $US88.96 per barrel.

The gold futures price was 0.9 per cent higher to $US1769.40 an ounce and iron ore futures rose 2.9 per cent to $US90.79 per tonne.

The Aussie dollar was near US67c at the US close.
