Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, March 7. The ASX 200 index closed 0.4 per cent stronger at 7763.70 points - a record closing high. Wall Street closed higher on US rate cut optimism.

The Aussie dollar is trading higher around US65.84c.
