ASX 200 flat with data centres, energy stocks pummelled

The ASX 200 ends down 0.1 per cent to 8399.1 points after Nvidia led a sharp fall in the US tech sector but most stocks in the S&P 500 rose. 

Nvidia, data centres and energy plays were hit by the emergence of a low-cost Chinese generative AI model that could threaten US dominance in the industry.

Cryptocurrency market leader bitcoin is trading above $US102,000.

The Aussie dollar is trading around US62.50c.
