ASX 200 hits record high ahead of Easter break; Beach axes executives; Feb retail sales rose 0.3pc on Swift effect

Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, March 28. The ASX 200 set a new closing record, rising 1 per cent to finish at 7896.90 points,  after hitting its best-ever intraday peak of 7901.20 points during the session.

The Aussie dollar is trading around US65.25c.
