Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, September 26. The ASX 200 index closed 1 per cent higher to 8203.70 points at with all sectors in the green bar energy. Wall Street closed mixed ahead of a speech from Fed chair Jerome Powell and inflation data.

The Aussie dollar is back around US68.62c just before 5pm AEST.
