In US trading, the Nasdaq index lifted 0.9 per cent as US government stake talks buoyed quantum-computing players. The Dow Jones index closed 0.3 per cent higher and the S&P 500 gained 0.6 per cent.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is was near $US111,300 at 4.40pm.
The Aussie dollar was trading around US64.98c.
