Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Friday, September 12. The ASX 200 index closed 0.7 per cent higher to 8864.90 points, led by with property and bank stocks. WiseTech, Car Group among those trading ex-dividend.

The Dow industrials closed 1.4 per cent higher, or above 46,000 points for the first time on record. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes also closed nearly 1 per cent higher, hitting fresh all-time highs.

Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin was near $US115,500 at 5pm AEST.

The Aussie dollar was near US66.59c.
