Welcome to the last Trading Day blog for 2024 this Friday, December 20. The ASX 200 index is down 1.3 per cent to 8063.20 points at 4pm AEDT.

On Wall Street, the S&P 500 and the tech-focused Nasdaq indexes closed 0.1 per cent lower, while the Dow Jones index eked out a 15-point gain.

The Aussie dollar is near US62.24c at 5pm AEDT.
