Australian live music website Moshcam is relaunching after completing a 15-month project it says will hone its focus on the global music scene.

The site, which professionally films concerts in HD, then streams them to users free on-demand, partnered with digital solutions firm Hostworks to overhaul its back end and user interface, with the Moshcam team moving into the Hostworks offices to double down on the transformation.

Moshcam chairman Andrew Rothery, who joined the board in June, said the relaunch meant the site was now aiming to be a hub of music activity and conversation, not just a video-sharing site.

Mr Rothery pointed to the addition of new features, including New Noise — a section for independent and unsigned bands — the Moshcam Photography Awards, and Palisade — a social tool that lets users stream their conversations via hashtags at the gig and as the videos are broadcast live — as additions that extend Moshcam to audiences previously out of reach.

“When we first started working with Hostworks, our goal was to increase the platform’s visibility. The team at Hostworks went above and beyond the typical scope of a technology partner,” he said. “As part of the transformation, the Moshcam team physically moved into the Hostworks offices, facilitating a more intimate and integrated approach to tech developments as well as content and marketing strategies.

“The music scene is always changing and developing, improving the site’s back end has enabled us to better listen to our users.”

Hostworks managing director Will Berryman said it was a pleasure working with an iconic brand in the Australian music scene. “While the previous Moshcam site looked the part, it was a challenge to operate and gave the team little flexibility to be creative,” Mr Berryman said. “In an industry where creativity is everything, it’s important for the site to not only stand out but be agile, so that it can keep up with the needs of artists and fans.”
