Atlassian makes fresh acquisition
The Australian tech darling is continuing to build out its capabilities, now acquiring a young US start-up.
Australian tech darling Atlassian has made its latest acquisition, picking up Slack specialist Halp for an undisclosed sum.
Atlassian, which has continued to climb in valuation over the last few months despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, said overnight that it was buying Halp, which lets Slack users easily create help desk tickets from inside Slack.
"Halp Answers enables your teams to leverage the knowledge that already exists within your company to automatically answer tickets right in Slack," the company said in a blog post announcing the deal.
"That knowledge can be pulled in from Slack messages, Confluence articles or any piece of knowledge in your organisation.
"Existing Halp users can look forward to deeper (and new) integrations with Jira and Confluence. We’re committed to supporting Microsoft Teams customers as well."
Atlassian has previously acquired a number of software companies, most notably Trello, as well as OpsGenie, StagusPage and AgileCraft.
According to data from venture capital database PitchBook, Halp most recently raised a $US2m seed round at a $US9.5m valuation.
Halp’s client list includes Adobe, VMware, GitHub and Slack itself.
Atlassian's co-founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar recently came in at fifth and sixth respectively, on The Australian's 'The List', worth $12.73bn and $12.54bn.
Brad Armstrong, vice president for business development and corporate development at Slack, said in a statement that the company was thrilled by the news.
“With its messaging-first approach to support ticketing, Halp is an outstanding tool for any team already collaborating in Slack channels,” Mr Armstrong said.
”We see enormous opportunities in building this business together with Atlassian.”
Slack reported a mass outage on Wednesday, which as of 11.45am AEST seems to be resolved.
