Sky News reveals 2022 line-up, with Joe Hildebrand to host quiz show
Viewers are set to enjoy a strengthened line-up at Sky News, including Joe Hildebrand’s new political quiz show.
Former Network Ten star and long-time journalist Joe Hildebrand will host a weekly political quiz show on Sky News Australia – with the country’s most popular subscription TV broadcaster unveiling its 2022 line-up on Monday.
Alongside Hildebrand’s The Blame Game – airing 8.30pm on Friday – Sky News will also add a new prime time program with Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi at 9.30pm Monday through Thursday. It will become a permanent Monday evening feature after the debut of the new Piers Morgan program later this year. The media personality, previously on Good Morning Britain, signed a major deal with News Corporation last year.
The broadcaster is also planning a number of documentaries in 2022, including the Peter Stefanovic hosted MH370: The Final Search, which follows MH370: The Untold Story – the highest-ever rating Sky News Australia documentary.
Peta Credlin also returns with her second documentary, this time looking into what goes on during an election campaign ahead of the 2022 federal poll.
Sky News Australia chief executive Paul Whittaker, a former editor-in-chief of The Australian, said the news agenda was already busy. “We’ll bring viewers unrivalled coverage of the federal election and post-pandemic federal budget,” he said.
“There’ll be in-depth analysis of the health, social and economic implications of new variants of Covid-19. And we have some big events to look forward to, including the Winter Olympics and Commonwealth Games, to name a few.”
Erin Molan will also join the broadcaster as a primetime contributor after departing the Nine Network late last year.
Other changes to the Sky News Australia line-up include the introduction of a daily business program – Business Now with Ross Greenwood – at 4.30pm. Greenwood, the network’s business editor, will continue to host Business Weekend at 11am on Sunday.
Paul Murray, one of the broadcaster’s highest-rating presenters, will move to an earlier timeslot of 8pm Sunday to Thursday, and host a series of “pub tests” through the election campaign. The Front Page, looking at next day’s newspapers, will also move to an earlier timeslot of 10.30pm every day.
