Australian rugby legend George Gregan trousered more than $9m from the sale of his matrimonial home last night (Monday) night, slightly down on the $9.6m originally sought.

The Luigi Roselli-designed mansion overlooking a waterfront reserve in Sydney’s Mosman, sold through McGrath Real Estate Agent Chad Campbell who said the five bedroom property attracted nearly 130 online inquiries with most interested parties either local families from Mosman or potential Chinese buyers.

There were 80 inspections and eleven contracts were issued.

The elevated site was bought by the Gregans as their matrimonial home back in 1999 for $1.34m.

In the end the property, which was substantially rebuilt and renovated in 2007, was purchased by a young family from Mosman with both George Gregan and his wife Erica, who he split from several years ago, happy with the result.

The property features five bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as an infinity edge pool, spa, sauna, gym, office, and wine cellar.
