A mansion on the Mornington Peninsula that was built as the home to the former governor of Victoria, Sir Dallas Brooks, has been listed for sale. The sprawling Frankston home has seven bedrooms and three living areas. Sir Dallas retired to Frankston as Victoria’s longest-serving governor in 1963 with wife Muriel.

Ray White Frankston agent Callum MacPherson advises the home is in need of renovation, but is also offering it as a development site given it has a planning permit for 15 three-bedroom townhouses. It is being offered in conjunction with Mick Whelan at McLennan Real Estate. MacPherson calls it a “one-off property”. He has a guide of $2.45 million-$2.659m for the July 13 auction of the large 7230sq m Crathie Court parcel.

Architect leaves labour of love

The contemporary Brisbane home of architect Michael Kisluk of TVS Architects has been listed for sale. The three-level Athol Street, Yeronga property was the first home the 30-year architectural veteran built for himself. The modern home with book-matched marble and black ceilings has four bedrooms, a cantilevered deck and a central kitchen and living space that opens to the swimming pool. The lower level is fully self-contained, with its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living area. Michael Nolan and Adam Edwards of Ray White Sherwood have the listing. Kisluk paid $480,000 in 2015.

Early $2.7m bid wins prize

The Toorak apartment listed by Lady Norma and Sir Donald Trescowthick sold pre-auction last weekend. The apartment in a Charles Salter-designed duplex on Martin Court fetched $2.7m on auction eve, leaving would-be auction attendees with more time to catch the sculpture exhibition at Toorak village shopping centre. Costing $1.7m in 2005, it was custom-designed with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Kay & Burton agent Andrew Smith had a $2.8m-$3m guide. Two years ago the couple sold their thoroughbred stud Cornwall Park, northwest of Melbourne. He founded Swann Insurance, which grew to be Australia’s largest privately owned general insurer before being sold, and was known for his Harris Scarfe department store chain. Their former Lansell Road home was one of the pioneering contemporary homes in Toorak.

Dawson Damers to sell 25ha estate

Property developer Piers Dawson Damer and wife Kim are selling their Tasmania lifestyle acreage. The 25ha Mountain River estate is in the Huon Valley, 30km southwest of Hobart. The six-bedroom family home has a tennis court and swimming pool in the landscaped gardens. The Dawson Damers paid $950,000 in 2007. Knight Frank Tasmania agent Anne Boman expects about $2m. In 2017, Dawson Damer spent $6.5m on 100-year-old Sandy Bay mansion Sentosa. Designed by Marco Linardi in 1917, Sentosa sits in 2310sq m of Paul Bangay-designed gardens on Blinking Billy Point.
