Tali, a fully furnished beachfront hideaway near Port Douglas in Queensland’s Far North, will be auctioned on July 28. The vendor, Red Balloon founder Naomi Simson, who features on TV series Shark Tank, bought the property almost eight years ago for $1.88m and has appointed Ray White Port Douglas principal Mark Flinn to market it.
Fronting Oak Beach, about 10 minutes from the bustling tropical township of Port Douglas, the house built on a 607sq m site features three bedrooms as well as a private Balinese courtyard and crystal blue heated swimming pool. An established holiday rental, it is one of few houses along the 1.5km stretch of white sand beach.
Renovation delight in Toorak
A Toorak mansion fronting 17 St Georges Rd has been listed for up to $70m. Built around 1939, the Georgian revival mansion has been put on the market by the family of late engineer Radovan Basil Nanut, who died in 2004 and left the estate to his wife, Marguerite, and three children James, Pia and Elizabeth. The 7854sq m property features a tennis court, glasshouse, as well as a separate guesthouse. The house is set back from the street behind high walls and a sweeping drive. Advisers said it needed at least $15m spent renovating it. Marshall White Stonnington agent Marcus Chiminello is handling the marketing campaign.
Old gold for Asian buyer
One of Toorak’s oldest houses, 28 Clendon Rd, has sold for just over $5m to an Asian buyer as an investment property. The vendor was the Bicknell family and, according to CoreLogic, it last sold for $5m in 2020. The selling agent was RT Edgar Toorak’s Max Ruttner, who declined to comment. Meanwhile, a Malaysian developer recently purchased 3 Mandeville Crescent, Toorak for $5.6m. The 850sq m development site was purchased site unseen and the developer hopes to build two townhouses on it. The selling agent was Mr Ruttner. The vendor paid $4.3m two years ago at the height of the pandemic.
Views from every window
Retired executive David Hordon is selling his Manly penthouse with price expectations of $4m through Max Walls Real Estate agent Anthony Walls. The penthouse is for sale for the first time in 22 years given Mr Hordon now lives in the Hunter Valley. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is in Manly’s popular Blue Waters building fronting Osborne Rd. The auction is set for July 16. Mr Walls said there had been strong interest. The building has been refurbished and the penthouse is popular with buyers because of its stunning views stretching from Copacabana on the central coast all the way across to the northern beaches, city, Barangaroo, eastern suburbs, and the heads. “There’s a view from every window,” Mr Walls said.
