LSKD founder Jason Daniel buys new home at Daisy Hill

Logan boy Jason Daniel’s clothing brand is set to crack $40m in sales this year so he’s bought a new home to renovate.

Property prices surge through lockdowns

It was important for athletic wear brand founder Jason Daniel that his new home would allow him to do what he does best: chase the vibe.

The three-word mantra is the basis of his athletic wear meets street wear clothing brand LSKD which he started in 2007 and has built into a global brand.

In the 2020-21 financial year they expect to turnover $40m with expectations that they will break the $50m mark for the calendar year.

So when Jason and wife Ally, both 34, decided to upgrade from their first home two years ago, it was important they found something that reflected their active lifestyle.

The couple considered a move to the sandy Gold Coast to give their children, Hendrix, three, and Freya, seven months, a beach upbringing. But after growing up on 2ha at nearby Cornubia, Mr Daniel knew he wanted a bit of land and when he found their home at Daisy Hill, in Logan City, south of Brisbane, it ticked all the boxes.

“Our mission is to inspire people to chase life through sport, fitness and adventure,” Mr Daniel said.

“I love that my mates and I can grab our BMXs and go mountain biking through the reserve back here.”

Mrs Daniel added: “You don’t really know Daisy Hill exists either and it’s such a little private pocket. I’m actually really loving it now.

“Jason’s been looking for probably two years in Daisy Hill, scouting to find the perfect home.

“For about a year, we were trying to get someone to sell to us so we could knock it down to build but then all of sudden this came up. Everything then happened really quickly.”

The family moved in three months ago and are still in the process of making the home their own, embracing coastal vibes and outdoor living in the styling.

The openness of the property was one of the big drawcards, with floor to ceiling windows in the main living areas overlooking the nature reserve the home backs on to. Each of the four bedrooms, main living spaces and home office are located on one level.

A home gym, bar and casual entertainment area is situated downstairs and opens out to a large terrace and back yard for the kids and little dogs Dexter and Ted to run around.

“We are really outdoors people and love being in nature,” Ms Daniel said.

“So the feeling of letting the outside in was really great to us.”

On top of being LSKD’s chief executive and a dad to young kids, Mr Daniel is also training for a triathlon.

Mr Daniel’s mum helped him trademark the childhood nickname “Loose kid” which he had picked up at the local skatepark at the age of 14.

Since rebranding and refining the vision of LSKD in 2018, the online clothing company has moved from strength to strength, and is expected to break $50m in turnover by the end of 2021.

“It’s crazy how far we have come,” Mr Daniel said.

“It took us on a 13-year journey to get to this level where we are now, you make so many mistakes. One of our mottos is, ‘sweep the sheds’, and I think that gives us a lot of humility.

Given that Mr Daniels grew up in Logan, it is no surprise it is near where the company is now being based. LSKD is building its new $7m headquarters at Yatala, a Gold Coast suburb, which will include the company’s office, warehouse and its first retail store.
