The daughters of the Lewis construction clan, Marnie Lewis-Millar and Shay Lewis-Thorp have listed a prized penthouse in Sydney’s toaster building at east Circular Quay. Around $12m is expected for the penthouse on the 14th floor of the Macquarie Street building through Sotheby’s James McCowan and Michael Pallier. The 221sq m penthouse has been in the Lewis family since the Toaster was constructed around the turn of the century with sources saying the apartment was pretty much seen as an under-utilised asset. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as two double car spaces and a security floor with direct lift access. It also features outstanding harbour views.
Homecoming sale
Jon Grayson, the former director-general of Queensland’s Department of Premier and Cabinet, and Linda Nash are selling their Brisbane riverfront home at 39 Ormadale Road, Yeronga. The lavish two-level spread on 532sq m of waterfront land is being offered through McGrath New Farm agent Brett Greensill. Grayson and Nash, who recently returned from a three-year stint working in Wellington, New Zealand, plan to split their time between Brisbane and their Sunshine Coast holiday home. “It’s the right time for me to come home … I either had to commit to extra time there or come back,” Grayson says.
Fashionable rebuild
Acclaimed fashion and interior designer Collette Dinnigan plans an eco-friendly contemporary rebuild of her retreat at Rosedale near the NSW township of Batemans Bay, which was incinerated on New Year’s Eve along with most of the rest of the houses on the Yowani Road clifftop. Dinnigan was reportedly in Puglia, Italy, when she discovered her two-bedroom cottage, which she rents out to holiday makers, had burnt down. She is reportedly hoping the new build will be off grid. Dinnigan paid a hefty $950,000 for the two-bedroom Rosedale cottage in 2018. All, except three houses on the whole of the North Rosedale clifftop, were destroyed in the fire.
Interest in Teplitsky block
Prominent Eastern Suburbs developer Michael Teplitsky is yet to offload one of two adjoining residential development sites in Sydney’s inner west that were expected to yield about $90m in total. Apartment vacancies in Sydney are at an all-time high while unit rents are plunging by as much as 15 per cent causing developers to rethink new constructions. However, Teplitsky, who controls the 149-163 Milton Street, Ashbury, site with fellow Ukrainian-born investors Boris Markovsky and Felix Milgrom, is fielding several interested buyers on the site, according to selling agent Peter Vines, managing director of Ray White Commercial. Teplitsky’s company, Ashbury FMBM Pty Ltd, controls the 1.65ha site, which is located about 12km from Sydney’s CBD and was acquired for $30.888m in 2014, according to public records. The site has approvals to develop a mix of apartments and townhouses. Expressions of interest closed on August 12. Mr Teplitsky could not be reached for comment.
