Barangaroo prize
Sydney apartment prices might be tumbling, but two Hong Kong vendors are expecting at least $3.6m for their two-bedroom and two-bathroom Barangaroo apartment, after paying $2.035m for it in 2013. Selling agent Richard Shalhoub,of Sotheby’s International, says the Barangaroo apartments were considered expensive when they hit the market through Lendlease five years ago but in hindsight had been great investments. Warwick Leung and Carmen Lau’s128sq m harbourfront apartment features a master suite with ensuite terrace access as well as double parking. Interest has been strong with 20 groups inspecting the property in the first week. The block is just metres to ferries, bus and rail transport. Strata fees are $3234 a quarter and the apartment will be auctioned on August 18.
Top Swan’s new nest
Sydney Swans chairman and Moelis Australia chief executive Andrew Pridham has paid $25m to buy the Mosman landmark, Hopetoun. For his money, Pridham has scored a six-bedroom waterfront spanning two titles.
The Hopetoun Avenue property was initially on the market for $40m in 2014. Ray White Mosman agent Geoff Smith and The Agency’s Sandie Dunn negotiated the deal. With views of Middle Harbour and out towards Clontarf, the home sports nine bathrooms, a heated pool and separate accommodation for a nanny. The deal follows the $23m sale in February of former Foxtel chief executive Richard Freudenstein’s Burran Avenue mansion in Mosman.
