Emerald city: $5m target for Mavis Malouf’s Woollahra apartment

A lavish Sydney apartment owned by the late Mavis Malouf will soon hit the market with hopes of at least $5m.

A lavish apartment in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs owned by the late Mavis Malouf, mother of high-profile agent Bill Malouf, will hit the market soon, with hopes of at least $5 million. The 300sq m whole-floor apartment in the exclusive St Neots, Edgecliff Road, Woollahra complex features dual living areas, three large bedrooms, plus a separate, fully self contained maid’s quarters and four-car garage. LJ Hooker Double Bay’s head of sales, Alain Waitsman,is handling the sale of the apartment on behalf of the Malouf estate. Meanwhile, the family has started on the difficult task of clearing out the apartment via the sale of furniture, artworks, clothing and accessories through Lawsons Auctioneers. An Italian-carved console table with alabaster top and mirror, a Josef Lorenzl bronze sculpture, and a pair of Italian Carrara verde antico marble pedestals are among the 365 lots on offer. There are also Bruno Magli, Charles Jourdan and Bottega Veneta handbags available through the online auction until April 24. Three Bernhard Hammerman rabbit, brown and cream mink coats are also being auctioned. The apartment is expected to be auctioned within four to five weeks. Mavis Malouf passed away in November, aged 95.

Bondi $2.95m sale

Proving the strength of the Bondi Beach market, a chic two-bedroom apartment in 70 Fletcher Street sold last weekend for $2.95m through McGrath agent Peter Starr. The price was a $195,000 increase on the $2.8m it was purchased for last July. Starr stresses nothing was done to the apartment, which was built in 1946 and renovated in 2008. He said the investor owners cashed in due to a change in their investment strategy, selling the apartment to a country buyer.
