Chief executive of pizza chain Domino's Pizza Don Meij has sold his Brisbane trophy home for around $8.5m, after spending a record amount on an off-the-plan penthouse at the start of the year.

Mr Meij has been a part of an estimated $20m worth of real estate deals in the past six months.

The home in the northside blue-chip suburb of Hamilton owned by the pizza boss and his wife Jenny sold after four months on the market.

Offering privacy without sacrificing views, the elevated five-bedroom home at 1A Eldernell Terrace captures sweeping vistas of the city’s namesake river and CBD skyline across all three levels.

The master suite commands its own levels above the main living area, while a fully contained separate two-bedroom suite sits below.

The sale comes months after Mr Meij secured the crowing jewel of Cavcorp’s Luminare residences in the neighbouring suburb of Newstead for $12.95m. The hefty off-the-plan deal struck in February became the city’s most expensive apartment by square metre, representing $24,000 for each of the 537sqms.

Place Estate Agents Ascot principal Patrick McKinnon brokered both transactions.

“It was a great campaign and privilege to sell such an elegant and iconic home,” Mr McKinnon said.

“We had around 60 groups through the property, multiple offers, incredible reach across social media, and the client is pleased with the result.”

Brisbane’s prestige market has continued to outperform the broader market. The recent sale of the city’s last riverfront estate at New Farm represented a new residential record in the River City at $20.5m.

The notoriously private Mr Meij paid $7.25m for the Hamilton home in 2018, a month after selling his prestige property in neighbouring Ascot for a then-record of $11m. He sold down $7.6m of personally held Domino's stock back in March in a “prudent approach” to reduce his personal borrowings.

Last week, the business closed all 27 stores in Denmark – about 2 per cent of total franchises – to cut operating costs.

The pizza boss, who in 2018 held the title of the most remunerated corporate leader, has an impressive global property portfolio. It includes a Los Angeles villa in Bel Air, which he secured in 2021 for $28m.
