After a quarter of a century, Boffa Hairdressing’s Frank and Jan Boffa have listed their 1934-built Palm Beach trophy home north of Sydney with hopes of about $12m.
The couple are the parents of former fashion designer Jodie Boffa and her husband Matt McGrath, brother of celebrity real estate agent John McGrath. Fronting the dress circle 8 Palm Beach Rd, the six-bedroom house will be auctioned on April 1 through McGrath Pittwater agents James Baker and Adrian Venturi.
Just 100m from the beach, the house has six bedrooms, three bathrooms and parking for two cars. The house has a saltwater pool, French doors to the terrace and two large offices.
Frank Boffa says he loves the simplicity of living in the house high above Palm Beach Rd. “It’s just a quick stroll to the beach,” he says.
He’s always loved the northern beaches and fondly recalls surfing with Midget Farrelly. The couple is planning to downsize in the area.
Harry’s view on Gold Coast units
Turning 90 has not slowed down multi-billionaire developer Harry Triguboff, who told Mansion this week his Meriton apartments were selling better on the Gold Coast than in Sydney.
Triguboff, who is holding a gala bash to celebrate his birthday at Sydney’s Town Hall on Saturday night, says that, on the Gold Coast he can offer buyers a much better apartment view from “the best possible positions. In Sydney, it costs much more to give buyers better views.”
Artist draws up sale contract
Sydney-based street artist and freelance illustrator Mulga the Artist, also known as Joel Moore, is selling his Miranda house in the city’s southern suburbs with price expectations of about $1.85m.
The Calliope Rd house on 651sq m includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms and will be auctioned on March 25 through Pulse agents Ben Pike and Bianca Orlando. The luxurious house is within walking distance of Miranda Westfield and the train station.
Rag traders stitch up deal
It was clothing manufacturers Larry Wei Lin and JaneLi Zhen Chen who spent a hefty $30m buying Peter Placek’s 4 Wolseley Crescent, Point Piper waterfront property at the far end of Lady Martin’s Beach last September. Selling agent Steven Chen of The Agency was tight-lipped at the time, but publicly available CoreLogic records reveal the couple purchased the property as joint tenants and with a mortgage to ANZ. For their $30m they snared a five-bedroom and five-bathroom absolute waterfront with two-car garage on a largish 371sq m block. The home also features an in-ground swimming pool on the water’s edge and a private jetty. The Czech-born Placek was also a former rag trader.
Chateau-style home sets record
Ray White Upper North Shore principal David Walker has just sold the grand scale chateau-style 35 Bangalla St, Warrawee, on Sydney’s north shore, to a local from nearby Wahroonga ahead of its April 1 auction for $9.38m, a record for a house with no tennis court. The house was on the market for only five days. It had 40 inspections, one open house, two offers and four contracts issued. The price guide for the property, with a three-car garage and swimming pool, was $8m-$8.8m.
