Art deco Elizabeth Bay apartment set for April auction

Journalists Alan Deans and Susan Skelly have listed their art deco apartment for auction ahead of a relocation to the Blue Mountains.

Journalists Alan Deans and Susan Skelly have listed their art deco apartment for auction with Richardson & Wrench Elizabeth Bay agent, Penny Timothy, ahead of a relocation to the Blue Mountains where they bought an architect-designed house in Faulconbridge. The apartment, atop the Birtley Towers complex in Elizabeth Bay, was once featured in House & Garden magazine as one of the 50 best rooms in Australia. The price guide for the apartment on level 8 is around $1.7m. The bespoke interiors were done by award-winning architect, Scott Weston. Designed in 1934, Birtley Towers is celebrated for its domed art deco foyer. The auction is scheduled for April 15.

Musk Farm on block

Musk Farm, the exquisite Victorian rural retreat of the late interior designer Stuart Rattle,is about to hit the market through Belle Property Daylesford. The hobby farm last sold for $2.41m in 2017 to Michael Wagner and his psychologist wife Cathy Wagner. Originally a Victorian primary school, Musk Farm was redesigned in 1998 by Mr Rattle. Gardens are by Paul Bangay.

Balmain listing

Karl Howard, the former principal of Ray White in Sydney’s Balmain, has listed his house at Ferris Street, Annandale, for auction on April 10. Howard was recently stood down after he was arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting two women on the property on February 8. CoreLogic records reveal Howard paid $1.85m for the three-bedroom, two-level house five years ago. Belle Property’s Simone Azzi is handling the sale.

Not to truffle with

Fintech executive Robert Coulter and wife Tatiana are selling their Pyrmont penthouse with a price guide of $6.5m through McGrath Double Bay agent Adam Regan. The three-bedroom penthouse was developed in the Alex Tzannes-designed Stonecutters building in Tambua Street. The Coulters plan to relocate to their truffle farm in Oberon on the western fringe of the Blue Mountains. In 2015, the Coulters paid $2.85m for the apartment, which sports three bathrooms and parking for four cars. The auction date is yet to be set.
