Nova Entertainment has secured the Australian rights to partner with the world’s second-biggest podcast, The Diary of a CEO.

Hosted by entrepreneur and author Steven Bartlett, the podcast – which is second only in global popularity to Joe Rogan’s eponymous hit – launched in 2017, and has since spawned the FlightStory group of companies.

The podcast has 25 million followers, more than 11 million YouTube subscribers, and averages in excess of 60 million monthly listens or views.

It features Mr Bartlett interviewing some of the world’s most influential people about their specialist topics and their backgrounds.

There have been more than 650 episodes, which will now be available on Nova’s podcast network, as will all future interviews.

Christiana Brenton, chief revenue officer and co-founder of FlightStory Studio told The Australian the move to this market was important because Australia ranked fourth in audience size for The Diary of a CEO.

Ms Brenton hails from Melbourne and her first job in the media was in sales at Nova Entertainment.

More recently she worked internationally for podcast platform Acast and joined FlightStory in 2023.

“The partnership with Nova is really twofold for us. It helps us deliver more to our Australian advertising partners so we can broker deeper and more long-term partnerships. But equally, it’s about a new distribution partnership,” she said.

Nova Entertainment partners with News Corp Australia (publisher of The Australian) to distribute a number of hit podcasts including Bronwyn, Dear Rachelle and The Mushroom Cook.

Nova is owned by Illyria, the private investment company of Lachlan Murdoch, who is the chairman of News Corporation.
