The Teacher’s Pet podcast series continues as worldwide hit
The Teacher’s Pet podcast series is approaching nine million downloads.
The Teacher’s Pet is approaching nine million downloads after reaching No 1 on the iTunes podcast charts in Australia, the US, Canada, Britain and New Zealand this week.
International interest in the series continues to grow, with almost one in every two downloads of this week’s episode, The System, coming from the US. Investigated by Hedley Thomas and co-produced by Slade Gibson, The Australian’s podcast series has unearthed new evidence and witnesses in the suspected murder of Lyn Dawson 36 years ago. NSW police have also set up a strike force to examine historical sexual assaults and student-teacher relationships at schools on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Episodes are put together week by week, allowing the live investigation to continue. New information is at times added just hours before episodes are released. There has been praise for the series, and calls from around the world for justice.
“It’s Thursday, which means I am waiting for that Teacher’s Pet podcast update, on the edge of my seat,” Canadian Kate Beaton said on Twitter this week. Meanwhile, a Facebook fan group set by listeners now has about 2000 members.
