NETWORK TenÂ’s The Biggest Loser finished its eight season with an audience of 1.248 million viewers.

While the figure for the winner’s announcement (and 1.108 million for the full episode) is down on previous incarnations - for instance the 2011 edition, The Biggest Loser: Families concluded with an audience of 1.68 million viewers - it was a positive in a lean year for Ten.

The program did well on a competitive night in which The Block Sky High managed 1.244 million for Nine and House Rules continued its emergence with 908,000 viewers on Seven.

The reality casualty of the night was Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice, which dropped another 87,000 metro viewers week-on-week for its boardroom challenge and 91,000 down for its challenge. It has dropped viewers on each of its past four Tuesday nights.

Nine News won the night with 1.328 million viewers, ahead of Seven News’ 1.276 million, with Nine winning by 77,000 in Sydney and 135,000 in Melbourne.

Seven won the night in all people with a 21.5 per cent share ahead of Nine’s 20.3 per cent and Ten’s 16.1 per cent.

ABC1’s special Q&A with Bill Gates earned 669,000 viewers, the show’s best result since April 1, albeit not on a Monday night.
