Seven West Media director Sheila McGregor resigns
Sheila McGregor has resigned from the Seven West Media board for undisclosed reasons.
Seven West Media director Sheila McGregor has resigned from the board.
Her resignation comes just six weeks after Seven chief executive Tim Worner was embroiled in a sex scandal with an employee of the company.
Ms McGregor’s resignation also comes ahead of the release of an independent inquiry into Mr Worner’s “inappropriate” affair with former executive assistant Amber Harrison, amid allegations of cocaine use and misuse of shareholder funds.
Seven announced Ms McGregor’s resignation in a tersely-worded three sentence statement which gave no reason for her departure from the company.
“The company thanks Ms McGregor for her service to the board and wishes her well for the future,” the statement said.
Seven’s board, led by chairman Kerry Stokes, has continued to back Mr Worner, despite mounting pressure on the company to take action.
News of the affair surfaced after Seven investigated alleged misuse of a corporate credit card by Ms Harrison, who was made redundant by Seven in 2014.
Four other women named by Ms Harrison as allegedly having had affairs with Mr Worner have issued categorical denials of any relationships.
Mr Worner, who is married, has admitted to an “inappropriate consensual sexual relationship” with Ms Harrison that she claims ran between December 2012 and June 2014, and included trysts at a company conference and at the Seven-sponsored Australian Open tennis tournament.
The network has denied that Mr Worner condoned the use of Ms Harrison’s credit card to pay for hotel rooms used for sexual rendezvous.
