Ramona Koval has been a writer, journalist and broadcaster for three decades.

Ramona Koval has been a writer, journalist and broadcaster for three decades, and is an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne.

Koval was a fixture on Melbourne radio in the late 1980s as the morning presenter on 3LO (now 774 ABC Melbourne) from 1988 to 1992 and hosted the Radio National drive program from 1993 to 1994.

She switched to literary programs in 1995 and for 16 years on Radio National presented programs including Books and Writing and The Book Show until she left the ABC in 2011.

During her time at the ABC, Koval was chosen by colleagues as the staff-elected director between 2002 and 2006.

Koval has edited and written several books, including a novel, Samovar, and a Jewish cookbook. Her latest book is Bloodhound: Searching for my Father.

She has been an infrequent contributor to The Saturday Paper since 2014 and has in the past written for The Age and The Weekend Australian.

Koval’s radio documentary features have been broadcast by the BBC and her biography says she has been a guest interviewer at international literary festivals in Edinburgh, Montreal and Berlin.

She has also worked as an academic at RMIT University and University of Melbourne.
