Peta Credlin on Daniel Andrews: ‘Who’d vote for him?’
Peta Credlin says many Australians are struggling to fathom how Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews could be re-elected at the November 26 state election despite his many failings.
Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin says many Australians are questioning how the re-election of Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews could even be possible at the upcoming state poll, given his involvement in many failings during his eight-year reign.
Credlin, a columnist for The Australian and News Corp’s Sunday newspapers, is working on a one-hour television documentary, The Cult of Daniel Andrews: A Peta Credlin Investigation, which focuses on the Labor Premier and explores why he has been so powerful during his time leading the state.
The documentary, which was first revealed by The Australian this week, includes a series of interviews with prominent insiders and figureheads in politics and media. It will also showcase explosive revelations from whistleblowers, and examine Andrews’ rise to prominence.
Credlin will delve into the serious failings that have occurred under his watch, including a trouble-plagued health and ambulance system, rising debt levels and broken promises.
“Around the country, people are asking the same thing: how can Victorians be thinking about re-electing this man given everything he has put them through,” Credlin says.
Victorians endured the longest Covid lockdown in the world and were impacted by the disastrous hotel quarantine program, but despite this the Premier’s popularity has not been affected and he is tipped to easily win the November 26 election.
Ian Cook, the independent running in Mr Andrews’ seat of Mulgrave, is among those who will feature in the TV special. He shot to prominence after his successful business was destroyed by the slug-gate scandal.
The scandal started when a Greater Dandenong Council health inspector was accused of planting a slug inside the I Cook Foods facility, which the council has denied.
Cook is firmly focused on trying to unseat the Labor Premier in the November election, a mammoth task as Mr Andrews holds the seat by a 15.8 per cent margin.
“The myriad of things this government has done under Daniel Andrews’ control is just … so bad,” Mr Cook said. “We can help clean up what is a beautiful state.”
The documentary will air on Sky News Australia and be streamed on Flash in November.
