News Corp Australia’s next cohort of aspiring journalists has joined some of Australia’s most recognisable news brands as their careers take off.
News Corp Australia’s next cohort of aspiring journalists has begun their careers with some of the country’s most recognisable news brands including The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Courier-Mail and news.com.au.
The National Editorial Cadet Program has welcomed 30 budding cadet journalists from across the country with an exciting opportunity to spearhead innovation, challenge the norm and steer the way forward for News Corp.
By joining News Corp, cadets will work in Australia’s biggest media organisation, boasting more than 150 prestige brands across news, sport and lifestyle.
Every month more than 17 million Australians choose to consume news and information from the company’s digital and print products – more than any other media group in the country.
Each cadet will undertake five rotations of 8-9 weeks, working in multiple roles that target the development of journalistic skills. Regional, metro and national rotations will be part of the program.
Cadets will also undertake weekly training to build editorial and personal skills. “The National Editorial Cadet Program provides opportunities for cadets to learn from some of the best journalists in Australia,” News Corp Australia capability and culture lead Selwyn Knoetze said. “The … program is purposefully designed to provide contemporary career pathways for the next generation of emerging journalist talent.
“Cadets are mentored and guided … so they can … exponentially develop their personal and journalistic skills so they can excel in the modern newsroom.”
The program will run to October 18, 2025.
