THE list of Network Ten's failures to launch grew on Monday with breakfast program Wake Up debuting with only 52,000 metro viewers.

That launch figure was below expectations and only 1000 more than Ten attracted for the February 2012 debut of its previous program, Ten Breakfast, co-hosted by Paul Henry. It was axed later in the year after not building its audience beyond 50,000 viewers.

Seven's Sunrise and Nine's Today dominated the slot with 368,000 and 321,000 average metro viewers respectively.

Nevertheless, Wake Up lifted Ten's average audience in the timeslot this year by 300 per cent.

Ten's more positively reviewed follow-up, Studio 10, debuted with 61,000 viewers, and was a more competitive proposition against Seven's The Morning Show (189,000) and Nine's Mornings (135,000).

Ten's malaise continued into Monday night where it ranked a long fourth in all people with an 8.6 per cent channel share behind Nine's 22.7 per cent, Seven's 20.8 per cent and ABC1's 15.1 per cent channel.

Viewing continues to drop in the latter months of the year. The normally strong Monday only had five shows top one million metro viewers with Seven's hit drama, The Blacklist, well down on previous averages of 1.4 million to 1.006 million last night.

Nine News (1.136m) and Seven News (1.131m) topped the night with Nine News leading by 60,000 in Sydney and 110,000 in Melbourne.

Nine's The Big Bang Theory jumped to its best Monday result since July with 1.125m and another 944,000 for a repeat.

Big Brother also continues to grow for Nine as it approaches its finale. Its 992,000 last night was its best result since September.

Seven's schedule was held up by its factual programs with Highway Patrol holding 871,000 viewers and Air Rescue 794,000.

ABC1's Monday was up on a poor performance last week with Media Watch (622,000), Four Corners (718,000) and Q&A (584,000) up on last week.
