KIIS1065’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson knock Ben Fordham off top spot in Sydney breakfast radio ratings

Breakfast radio stars Kyle and Jackie O have for the second time knocked 2GB’s Ben Fordham from top spot to claim the title as Sydney’s most popular early morning show.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have been crowned Sydney’s breakfast radio kings, knocking 2GB talk back host Ben Fordham off top spot in the latest ratings survey.

The KIIS1065 pair dethroned Fordham from Sydney’s top spot in the breakfast ratings, recording an audience share of 14.9, just 0.1 points above Fordham who recorded a share of 14.8 — a drop of 2.1 points from the previous survey.

The duo who have been in partnership for 22 years, have now beaten Fordham twice, having also beaten the 2GB host in July last year.

They recently were awarded radio’s highest honour when they were inducted into the Commercial Radio Hall of Fame for their long-running contribution to the industry.

In the mornings slot, 2GB’s Ray Hadley remained the dominant force despite suffering a significant fall – he recorded an audience share of 13.3 (down 2.3), and KIIS1065’s Gordie Waters is now within striking distance of Hadley.

Waters recorded an audience share of 12.7 points (up 1.7 points).

Overall, 2GB remained the number one radio station in Sydney with an overall audience share of 11.6 (down 1.2 points), followed by KIIS1065 who came in second at 11.3 (up 1.8 points).

In this poll which recorded listening habits from August 14 through to October 29, ABC Sydney’s James Valentine continues to struggle, falling to 8.8 per cent audience share (down 1.3 points).

In Melbourne, Nine Entertainment-owned 3AW remained the number one station with an overall audience share of 13.7 (up 0.3), followed by Gold 104.3 at 11.5 points (down 0.4 points).

In the breakfast timeslot, 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft remained on top with an audience share of 20.5 (up 1.2 points).

In the morning segment, 3AW’s Neil Mitchell remains the number one program with an audience share of 16.6 points (up 0.4 points), followed by Gold 104.3’s Craig Huggins at 12.6 points (up 0.1 points), followed by ABC host Virginia Trioli who recorded an audience share of 9.7 (up 0.6 points).

In the drive timeslot, Gold 104.3’s Dave Higgins remained on top with an audience share of 13.7 points (down 1.1 points), followed by 3AW’s Tom Elliott, 109.1 Fox FM’s Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little and Smoothfm 91.5’s Ty Frost who each recorded an audience share of 9.8 points.

In Brisbane, the newly-appointed 4BC breakfast trio Laurel Edwards, Gary Clare and Mark Hine took a hit at 10.8 (down 1 point) while Nova 106.9’s trio of Ash Bradnam, Susie O’Neill and David Lutteral were knocked off top spot (13 points) by B105’s Stav Davidson, Abby Coleman and Matty Acton who recorded an audience share of 13.9 points.

Neil Breen, who hosts 4BC’s afternoons program, recorded a slight increase in audience share to 6.7 points (up 0.5 points).

In Adelaide, FIVEaa’s breakfast show, hosted by David Penberthy (also a senior writer on The Australian) and Will Goodings, had a jump in ratings to 15.2 (up 0.6 points) and remained the number one show in the timeslot.

In Perth, NOVA93.7’s breakfast show remains in top spot with co-hosts Natalie Locke, Nathan Morris and Shaun McManus recording an audience share of 20.5 (up 0.3 percentage points).
