IPG Mediabrands Australia chief executive Danny Bass has quit the local media business of Interpublic Group.
IPG Mediabrands Australia chief executive Danny Bass has quit the local media business of US-based advertising agency Interpublic Group after three years at the helm.
Mr Bass said the decision was made after speaking to Leigh Terry, CEO of IPG Mediabrands APAC, at the end of the year about his future plans, with both agreeing that he would leave the group “in the coming months.”
“These past three years have been a career experience that has far exceeded my expectations from when I took on the role at the end of 2015,” Mr Bass said in a statement.
“Supported by an executive leadership team with the highest standards of management and skills leadership, Mediabrands has been transformed into a highly respected, performance-driven business with high degrees of flexibility in helping solve clients’ business challenges.”
Mr Bass wasn’t immediately available to comment on his plans.
Since Mr Bass joined Mediabrands in November 2015, the Sydney-based company has boosted its client list, which include the federal, NSW and WA governments, Optus and AGL. The group has also worked for American Express, Amazon and Johnson & Johnson.
Under Mr Bass’ tenure, Mediabrands has nearly doubled its workforce to 700 from 450.
IPG Mediabrands said Mr Bass will remain with the company until mid-year, working closely on a “comprehensive transition” with Mr Terry.
Until Mr Bass’ replacement is appointed, Mediabrands will report to Mr Terry, who is based in Sydney and a former CEO of Omnicom Media Group ANZ.
