Foxtel has signed a new deal with ViacomCBS to provide subscribers with blockbuster content

Foxtel Group has signed a new content distribution deal with American content powerhouse ViacomCBS.

Foxtel Group has announced a major content deal with ViacomCBS that will deliver subscribers an even bigger range of movies, drama series, channels and apps.

Under the new multi-year agreement with the American media company, blockbuster movies, a catalogue from Paramount Pictures and also a range of popular TV series will be available for Foxtel and Binge subscribers from 2022.

It will include the Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and MTV channels and also the integration of Paramount+ and 10 Play apps onto Foxtel set top boxes.

Foxtel Group chief executive officer Patrick Delany said the new multi-year agreement is a huge win for consumers who will soon have access to an even larger array of content.

“We are pleased to extend our long-term partnership with ViacomCBS, with more of the world’s best entertainment to power Foxtel and Binge and more apps for our Foxtel customers to enjoy all in one place,” he said.

“The breadth of these agreements is strategically significant for the Foxtel Group.

“They highlight our strength as a local partner of choice for leading global studios and confirm there are new ways to partner with international media companies who have direct-to-consumer strategies for the benefit of consumers.”

The Paramount+ app which launched in Australia in August and the 10 Play app will be integrated into the iQ3, iQ4 and the new iQ5 set top boxes.

The deal will see popular TV dramas made available including the pay TV premiere of Blue Bloods, BULL, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, NCIS and the hit series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Foxtel Group’s chief commercial and content officer Amanda Laing said the content and apps deal is a “real treasure chest” and will give Foxtel subscribers access to “one of the world’s best producers of media and entertainment content”.

“ViacomCBS is this great combination of these well known Hollywood brands, CBS, Viacom and Paramount coming together now to be this powerhouse of content,” she said.

“We have a series of multi-year agreements across the ViacomCBS company and it provides blockbuster movies as well as large selection by us of their library.”

ViacomCBS global distribution group president Dan Cohen said they were “thrilled to extend our longstanding partnership with Foxtel Group”.

These new additions will add to other app-based streaming platforms available on Foxtel set top boxes including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, ABC iview and SBS on Demand, allowing streaming content to be “all in the one place”.
