Film and TV awards to get broad showing

THE Australian film industry's major awards event, AFI/AACTA Awards, will be held in Sydney on January 30 next year and broadcast on Network Ten.
The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts confirmed the major Awards ceremony would be preceded by the AACTA Awards Luncheon for technical categories presented by Deluxe on January 28.
AACTA President Geoffrey Rush and NSW Minister for Tourism, Major Events and The Arts, George Souris announced the dates in Sydney today.
The broadcast of the main awards on Ten will move to the earlier timeslot of 8.30pm on Thursday.
Mr Rush said in a statement, "The reception and ongoing support of AACTA and the AACTA Awards activities both here and abroad over the past two years has been magnificent.
"I look forward to the continued opportunity to elevate and celebrate Australian screen achievements with colleagues and the public over the coming weeks at the AACTA Awards Screenings, at the AACTA Awards Nominations Announcement later this year and at the 3rd AACTA Awards ceremonies this summer in Sydney."
Both AACTA Awards ceremonies will be held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.
