A Supercars Club social media account has gone dark, as Ben Huynh’s bail conditions revealed
Sydney pharmacist Ben Huynh, who is facing fraud charges, has been blocked from his long-running chemist and bailed to live at his $10m rural estate.
The Instagram account of Supercars Club Australia - which helped document the high life of fraud-accused pharmacist Ben Huynh and his wife - has been turned off, as Mr Huynh’s bail conditions come to light.
Mr Huynh, the proprietor of the Cabramatta East Day and Night Pharmacy for 26 years, has been charged with obtaining a financial advantage by deception, with the federal Department for Health alleging he submitted false claims for medications under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme that were not prescribed by a medical practitioner and not supplied to a patient.
Mr Huynh’s legal issues first came to light in mid-November when a neighbourhood Facebook group lit up with the news that Australian Federal Police officers were seen vaulting the fence at his $20m Dural property, later carting away several supercars including a rumoured three Ferraris.
His wife Le Thach, who has not been charged with any wrongdoing, said in TikTok that the couple own $8m worth of cars including a $1.3m Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
Ms Thach is the founder of Supercars Club Australia, an exclusive organisation for owners of very high end cars such as Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
The couple’s high-life has been well documented on social media, through Ms Thach’s personal Instagram and Facebook accounts and similar accounts for the Supercars Club.
The Club's Instagram account has now winked out of existence however, while its Facebook site remains live, as do Ms Thach’s personal pages.
On Wednesday last week, a day after Mr Huynh faced court, Ms Thach was tasting cognac worth $US50,000 a bottle at a private dinner in Sydney’s Crown Towers penthouse, with the event documented on her personal Facebook page.
Mr Huynh’s bail conditions reportedly stipulate he can’t go within 200m of the pharmacy and is also banned from leaving New South Wales and has to surrender his passport.
He is also not allowed to enter any international airport.
He also has to live at a nominated address which is understood to be the couple’s 2ha Dural estate, which Ms Thach said in another TikTok was worth probably $10m-$20m.
Mr Huynh’s registration as a pharmacist remains in place.
The Health Department is refusing to say how much Mr Huynh is accused of defrauding the Commonwealth out of. The charge comes with a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.
The matter, which is being heard in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, has been adjourned until next year.
Meanwhile Supercars Club Australia has a track event coming up on December 16.
