NSW Covid-19 hot spots: Virus alert for Foodworks supermarket

A supermarket has been added as an exposure site in NSW after a family from Victoria travelled into the state while potentially infectious.

A Foodworks supermarket has been added to the list of NSW venues on alert.

South coast residents, in particular, are on high alert after a Victorian man and his family visited a popular holiday spot while potentially infectious with Covid-19 sparking several venue alerts.

The department said the family was in NSW between May 19 and 24.

The listed businesses of exposure site span more than 300km from each other.

On Saturday, NSW Health issued an advisory for the Foodworks in Gundagai where the potentially infectious family visited on May 19 between 11am and midday.

Anyone who attended the supermarket during that time must monitor for symptoms and if they develop, must immediately be tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received.

NSW Health thanked the Gundagai community for coming forward for testing.

“We ask anyone who lives in the town, or passed through it on the morning of May 19, to check to check the NSW Health website regularly for updates,” it said in a statement.

“We also ask that anyone who may have, or have had, even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms since 19 May and who has not yet been tested, to please seek testing.”

It comes as the state recorded no new Covid-9 infections on Saturday.

There were also 19,403 tests conducted on Friday, compared with the previous day’s total of 22,583.

During the week a number of exposure sites were listed which including Goulburn’s Shell Coles Express Big Merino on May 19 between 1.45pm and 2.05pm – in addition to times previously announced.

Other alerts included the The Coffee Pedaler in Gundagai on May 19 between 9.30am and 11.15am, Jervis Bay’s Green Patch campground from May 19 at 4pm to 9am on May 24.

Gundagai is about 330km from Huskisson where a popular cafe frequented by both locals and tourists is also on alert.

They family went to 5 Little Pigs in Huskisson on May 21 between 8am and 11.30am.

And anyone who went to the Huskisson Treasure Chest on May 21 from 11.30am and 12pm, the Gundagai Craft Centre on May 19 from 11am to 12pm and the Junque and Disorderly Antique Shop in Gundagai on May 19 from 11am and 12pm have also been urged to isolate until further advice is available.

Exposure times have also grown at Coles in Vincentia.

The potentially infectious cases went to the supermarket on May 21 between 12pm and 1pm and at the same time on May 22.

“If you were at any of the following venues at the times listed, please immediately call NSW Health on 1800 943 553, get tested and isolate,” NSW Health advised.

Authorities haven’t determined which family member contracted the virus first and where they caught it, declaring they could not find any crossover points with existing cases.
