Man accused of urinating on Captain Cook statue in Sydney’s Hyde Park

A man was breaching bail when he allegedly urinated on a Captain Cook statue in Sydney’s Hyde Park.

A man accused of urinating on a statue of Captain Cook in Hyde Park, Sydney, will front court on Friday, charged with wilfully damaging or defacing a protected place.

He was also breaching bail, police said.

Three men were in Hyde Park just after 11pm on Thursday when one of the men allegedly urinated on the statue.

Officers arrested the 21-year-old man before taking him to Day St police station where he was charged.

The man from Collaroy Plateau was refused bail and will appear at the Central Local Court on Friday.
