Man accused of robbing and sexually assaulting schoolgirl at knifepoint in Lidcombe
A man has been arrested after he allegedly raped a teenage girl in broad daylight in a Western Sydney carpark.
A man has been charged with raping and robbing a 15-year-old girl at knifepoint in Sydney’s west.
NSW Police charged the 37-year-old man with aggravated sexual assault of a victim under 16 years of age and robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
“Police will allege the man then sexually assaulted and sexually touched the girl before she ran from the carpark,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Police allege he approached a teenage girl at Lidcombe railway station just before 10am on Sunday before taking her to a nearby carpark.
There, police allege he sexually assaulted the teenager after producing a knife and stealing her iPhone 11 before she ran away.
The man was arrested at a home on Alice Street in Newtown with the assistance of officers from the State Crime Command’s sex crimes squad.
He was denied bail when he appeared in Newtown Local Court on Tuesday.
The case will return to court on April 9.
