Logies back after 2 year hiatus, nominations announced
Tom Gleeson is again up for a Gold Logie after an upset win in 2019, competing against Karl Stefanovic, Julia Morris and Melissa Leong.
After a two-year hiatus thanks to Covid, nominations for the long-awaited 62nd TV Week Logie Awards have been announced.
Comedian Tom Gleeson is again up for a Gold Logie after an upset win of the night’s top award in 2019. He is competing against popular personalities Karl Stefanovic of the Today Show, I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here’s Julia Morris and Masterchef’s Melissa Leong. Lego Masters host Hamish Blake and Home And Away veteran Ray Meagher are also jockeying for the top award.
The romantic six-episode drama series, Love Me, secured seven nominations for the 2022 TV Week Logie Awards – the most nominations of any drama series in 2022.
The first Australian-made original series of streaming platform Binge follows three different family members as they experience modern love at different times of their lives, featuring celebrated actors Hugo Weaving, Bojana Novakovic and Will Lodder.
Binge’s executive director Alison Hubert-Burns said the show’s connection with audiences has been reflected in the number of nominations.
“Creating Love Me … has been such a treat,” she said.
“We are thrilled that Love Me has connected so strongly with Australian audiences, and incredibly proud to be recognised with seven Logie nominations.”
Nominations for the show include Most Outstanding Drama series and Most Popular Drama Program.
Hugo Weaving has been recognised for his role as Glen Methieson, a father struggling with new romances since his wife died, and has been nominated for the Most Outstanding Actor and Most Popular Actor.
Mr Weaving’s love interest in the series, Anita, played by Heather Mitchell, also was nominated for Most Outstanding Supporting Actress and lead character, Clara Mathieson played by Bojana Novakovic has been recognised with her first Logie Award nomination for Most Popular Actress.
Will Lodder, who plays Aaron, the younger brother Clara and son of Glen, was nominated for the prestigious Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.
A new award has also been introduced to celebrate the achievements of Australian talent around the world – The Silver Logie for Most Popular Australian Actor Or Actress in an International Program. Nominees include Sarah Snook, who stars in Succession and The Handmaid’s Tale’s Yvonne Strahovski.
Voting is now open for some of the most popular awards such as the Gold Logie right through until the end of the red carpet, and fans can short-list their favourite nominees here.
The Logies will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday, June 19.
