But, judging by this seventh episode of the third season, it seems the program hasn’t developed much. It relies, as it did in early episodes, on humour derived from a stupid man’s pathetic and hopeless attraction to exactly the wrong person.
In seasons two and three, this happens to be his attractive female housemate Samantha Parker (Laura Haddock). Don Danbury (writer and lead actor Dan Clark) is the stupid man. When he learns that Samantha’s handsome boyfriend has proposed to her, he says: ‘‘It must be killing him, bet he never he thought he’d find someone like you at his age.’’ ‘‘Oh, Don,’’ she replies. ‘‘That joke is getting old.’’
‘‘It’s not the only thing getting old around here,’’ he replies.
I couldn’t agree more.
