ABC and multichannels score but Nine wins

AUDIENCES moved to the multichannels last night as both Nine and Seven recorded channel shares below 20 per cent.

And Summer Heights High creator Chris Lilley has his audience back with his new comedy series, Ja’Mie: Private School Girl the second most popular entertainment program last night with 924,000 viewers - well up on ABC1's previous programs in that timeslot this year.

The show had a strong lead-in with Gruen Planet adding more than 160,000 viewers on last week's numbers for 1.070 million metropolitan viewers.

Otherwise, the top shows were all news and current affairs with Nine News topping the evening with 1.142 million viewers ahead of Gruen Planet, Seven News (1.058 million) and Today Tonight (998,000).

Nine won the night with a 19.7 per cent share ahead of Seven's 18.8 per cent, ABC1's 14.9 per cent and Ten's 12.2 per cent.

Among the multichannels, 7mate had a 5.1 per cent share while Nine's GO! had 4.8 per cent and Gem 4.2 per cent as their shows knocked off regular ABC2 kids' favourites from the top rankings on the multichannels.

Among the multichannels, The Big Bang Theory had 322,000 and 306,000 viewers on GO!, Neighbours had 310,000 on ELEVEN and Hardcore Pawn and American Pickers had 284,000 and 264,000 respectively on 7mate.

Seven's Agents of SHIELD continues to fall slowly, down another 150,000 viewers to 731,000, still well ahead of Nine's Hostages (down 94,000 on last week to 556,000) and Ten's Wonderland, which is holding steady at 499,000.

Seven's Slideshow banked another 674,000 for Seven, down slightly on last week, while Big Brother rose on its previous Wednesdays to 875,000.
