Rufus du Sol wins Grammy for best dance track

The Sydney-based trio’s song Alive edged out dancefloor heavyweights to win the Grammy in Las Vegas.

Australian dance act Rufus Du Sol has won the Grammy Award for best dance/electronic recording at a ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday, Australian time.

The Sydney-based trio of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt picked up the Grammy for its track called Alive, edging out dance heavyweights including Afrojack & David Guetta with Hero, and Ólafur Arnalds featuring Bonobo for Loom.

The award was accepted by Rufus Du Sol with producer Jason Evigan and mixer Cassian Stewart-Kasimba.

Other Australian artists have missed out on Grammy Awards.

The Kid Laroi was nominated for best new artist, but lost to Olivia Rodrigo whose debut single Drivers License was one of the best-selling songs of last year.

Heavy rock legends AC/DC were nominated in three categories including best rock performance and best rock album, but lost to Foo Fighters in both of those awards.

Also nominated was Nick Cave for best recording package for Carnage.

Silk Sonic’s track Leave the Door Open was named song of the year.

The awards continue, with record of the year and album of the year yet to be announced.
