Since branching out into the originals business with Love Me, a bingeworthy exploration of love and grief, Binge today announced the full cast in their newest homegrown original production, Colin from Accounts.

Created and written by Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer – who are both the series’ lead actors and married in real life – the eight-episode comedy is “packed with humour and plenty of heart”.

“The team has assembled a stellar mix of local talent lead by Patrick and Harriet,” Binge executive director Alison Hurbert-Burns said.

“We have had so much fun shooting this new original … across Sydney suburbs including Marrickville, Leichhardt and Redfern and can’t wait to bring it to Binge viewers later this year.”

Dyer has carved out a career in film and television starring in local productions such as Love Child and Wakefield. She also featured in the Netflix sci-fi horror film The Invisible Man (2020) alongside the star of The Handmaid’s Tale, Elisabeth Moss. Her co-star Brammall was most recently seen in the animated fourth season of the popular Paramount+ series No Activity as detective Nick Cullen.

The pair will be joined by an ensemble of Australian actors, including Helen Thomson (Rake, Elvis), Emma Harvie (Frayed, Diary of an Uber Driver), Genevieve Hegney (Young Rock, Doctor Doctor), Michael Logo (Love Me) and Tai Hara (Hyde and Seek, Home And Away), under the direction of Trent O’Donnell, Matt Moore and Madeleine Dyer.

The Sydney-based production focuses on Dyer’s character Ashley navigating life with Gordon (Brammall) following a car accident and a situation involving an injured dog. The series explores the “single(ish), complex humans” who are both flawed and funny as they find each other and bare their true selves – scars and all.

Series producers Rob Gibson and Ian Collie from Easy Tiger Productions said it came as no surprise Brammall and Dyer were able to bring “some of the best and funniest people in the business on board”.

“We’re really excited to introduce some extraordinary new faces to Binge audiences.”

Head of Screen NSW Grainne Brunsdon added: “Colin from Accounts … aligns the production know-how of EasyTiger with the creative team of Patrick Brammall, Harriet Dyer and Trent O’Donnell for an exciting rom com series set in Sydney. I know this 100 per cent NSW-made production will deliver laughs for audiences at home and abroad.”

Colin from Accounts will stream on Binge.
