Taylor Swift releases additional tickets for Australia tour
When the tour went on sale in June, some four million Australians logged on, waiting for more than eight hours to secure one of the 450,000 spots to her Melbourne and Sydney shows.
US pop star Taylor Swift will release more tickets to her forthcoming The Eras tour, set to touch down in Australia next February.
When the tour went on sale in June, some four million Australians logged on and waited for more than eight hours to secure one of the 450,000 spots to her Melbourne and Sydney shows.
For those brave enough to try their hand again, Ticketek has announced that additional tickets to all Swift’s Melbourne and Sydney dates will go on sale on Friday 10 November at 10am.
Due to the “unprecedented” demand, additional tickets will include partially-obstructed side view tickets, with prices starting from $79.90.
When the first round of tickets, which cost between $79.90 and $379.90, went on sale stressed and frustrated fans who suffered in the digital waiting room for hours took to social media to air their frustration at Ticketek.

The ticketing company confirmed that there were no technical glitches, just an unprecedented event. The company released a statement, encouraging fans to be patient.
“Ticketek managed to repel more than half a billion bot attempts (which come from scalpers) and more than 4 million people across Sydney and Melbourne were trying to secure tickets today,” a Ticketek spokesman told The Australian at the time.
Swift will perform a three-day run in Melbourne on February 16, 17, and 18 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and then head to Sydney for four back to back shows at Accor Stadium on February 23, 24, 25 and 36.
The last time Swift toured Australia was in October 2018, in support of her album Reputation.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Swift’s epic Eras Tour, which runs for over three hours, is on track to be the biggest concert tour in history, with the potential to gross over US $1 billion when it wraps up next year.
The Eras tour was given official “major event” status in Victoria in a bid to prevent ticket scalping. The special consumer legislation was triggered after Amex specific packages that sold out in less than three hours were then being resold for more than $3000.
Last month, a concert film for the tour titled The Eras Tour, was released in Australia. The film won the box office in its opening weekend, taking in $3.8 million, and topping The Exorcist: Believer and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
