Golden Globes 2025: see the nominees

Australia punched above its weight this year, with acting nods for Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Guy Pearce and Naomi Watts. And a best Animated Motion Picture nomination for claymation auteur Adam Elliott.

The nominations for the 82nd Golden Globes are here, and Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist have emerged as the films to beat. Jacques Audiard’s musical thriller about a transgender Mexican drug lord — a film loved and loathed in equal measures — leads the pack with ten nominations.

Close behind is Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, a three-and-a-half-hour epic starring Adrien Brody in a career-best performance as a Hungarian architect and Holocaust survivor, which scored seven nods.

On the television side, FX’s awards darling The Bear leads with five nominations, followed by Only Murders in the Building and Shogun, each earning four.

Australia punched above its weight this year. Director Adam Elliott earned a Best Animated Motion Picture nod for his gorgeous and heartbreaking claymation film Memoir of a Snail.

Nicole Kidman is nominated for Best Drama Actress for her daring turn in Babygirl, an indie film where she plays a CEO seduced by a much younger, dominating intern, played by Harris Dickinson.

Guy Pearce also scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his chillingly evil role in The Brutalist, which arrives in Australian cinemas on January 23.

Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett and Naomi Watts carry the torch for Australia in the television acting categories, with nods for their performances in Disclaimer and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, respectively.
