And that’s where we’ll leave today’s live coverage.
If you’re just joining us, here’s what you need to know:
- Labor has won majority government for a third consecutive term. It means Daniel Andrews is on track to become Victoria’s longest-serving Labor premier by Easter.
- Opposition Leader Matthew Guy says while he’s disappointed by the result, he is proud of the Nationals for gaining seats and for his side of politics likely increasing its representation in the upper house.
- The Greens have won the seat of Richmond from Labor and the party appears to be ahead in Northcote.
- While independents have lost rural seats, there are likely gains in Hawthorn and Mornington.
- And Labor’s hold in the Legislative Council appears to have slipped, but we won’t know the result for several days.
Ash McMillan will be on deck to blog the election wash-up around 9am.
Until then, have a lovely night.
