Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man after a stabbing in Melbourne’s north-west overnight, while three people have been charged with murder over a separate incident.
Emergency services were called to St Albans on Friday night after reports a man had been stabbed during an altercation with a group of men.
An injured 32-year-old man was found near St Albans Road, between Princess and Percy streets, about 10.50pm. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.
Two 18-year-old men and a 15-year-old boy were arrested by police nearby.
A spokeswoman for Victoria Police confirmed on Saturday afternoon that the trio had been released from custody pending further enquiries.
Police believe those involved in the incident are known to each other.
A crime scene has been established in St Albans, near Errington Reserve.
In a separate incident, three people have been charged with murder after a body was found in a burnt-out car in the state’s north on Christmas Eve.
Emergency services were called to a car fire on Loch Garry Road in Bunbartha on December 24 about 10am.
After the fire was extinguished, the body of a 19-year-old Wangaratta man was found.
A 38-year-old Shepparton man, a 37-year-old Shepparton woman and a 24-year-old Mooroopna man have each been charged with one count of murder.
The trio were remanded in custody and will appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on January 3.
