Melbourne's new seafood spot Pinchy's is the reel deal
Seafood lovers will be tickled pink with the opening of Pinchy's Champagne and Lobster Bar, just in time for relaxed pre-Christmas catch ups.
Situated upstairs in Bourke Street's old MidCity Arcade, the playful pink-hued eatery and bar takes its seafood snack game seriously, with Executive Chef Pierre Khodja (ex Camus, Canvas, Terminus Restaurant) casting out classics - lobster rolls, oysters, anchovy on toast - as well soon-to-be classics - scallop on black risotto, stuffed calamari, and salted cod and prawn head sandwiches among them, to a predominantly young, fun crowd, from lunch 'til late.
Champagne, as the name suggests, is also a focus, with French bubbles flowing by the glass or bottle, and champagne cocktails adding extra fizz factor.
Inside is bright, poppy, fun, with a variety of seating options from stools to slinky velour banquettes providing seating for up to 75. If the weather's kind, however, make a beeline for the spacious balcony. Bedecked with daybeds and overlooking a scenic stretch of Bourke Street, it might just be one of the hottest spots of the summer. Especially if you're the shellfish type.
Good for: Casual catch ups. Seafood lovers. Instagrammers.
Vegetarian and vegan options: Yes, a handful of both.
Open: 11.30am til late Wednesday to Sunday.
