Beatbox burgers find a home at Beatbox Kitchen, Brunswick
Ever since Raph Rashid cranked the ignition on his Beatbox burger truck eight years ago, fans of his juicy, high-grade burgers with that snappy stereo sauce have become legion.
Now there's a bricks-and-mortar Beatbox Kitchen, so you don't have to chase your hit to the nearest music festival.
You'll find the bright, simple storefront – a deep and narrow room two-toned in white and coral and peppered with picnic tables, bar stools and a bright blue ping pong table – scrabbling up towards the hilly end of Sydney Road.
The menu offers the truck's original burgers – the whole portobello 'Shroom, the classic Raph with gouda and the spicier Chilly Billy with chipotle and jalapenos – as well as snackier-sized cheeseburgers and house-made veg supreme patties, all served on buns baked at Rashid's All Day Donuts operation nearby.
Sides include fries, potato cakes and steamed, salted green beans, which you can wash down with milkshakes, Coke or Rockies lemonade (also made by Rashid) and chase with a good old hot fudge sundae.
Open daily 11.30am-9pm.
