State of Origin 2016: How the Queensland players rated
By Chris Boulous
1. Darius Boyd
A trademark pass for the first try and scored his 17th Origin try. In between he spent the rest of the night organising the defence. 7/10
2. Corey Oates
Fits the perfect prototype of an Origin winger: big, strong and fast. He made a lot of tough carries under pressure. 7
3. Greg Inglis
Origin's leading try scorer added another one to his tally and was a powerhouse on the left edge in attack and defence. 7
4. Justin O'Neill
Defensively outstanding in the first half. He was a victim of Queenslands lack of possession and handled easily with ball in hand. 6
5. Dane Gagai
Lauded for his attack, his defence was his main asset in game 3. Another one who saw precious little ball. 5
6. Johnathan Thurston
His 36th consecutive Origin featured a room service pass for their second try but eight missed tackles and a poor kicking display. 5
7. Cooper Cronk
Sin-binned for a professional foul, the other 70 minutes was one of his quietest in a Queensland jersey. He provided the kick for the last try. 5
8. Matt Scott
An Origin stalwart that knows his job and does it well. Outgunned by his opposite number Aaron Woods. 5
9. Cameron Smith
He spent most the night either arguing with the referee of tackling. A typical savvy performance from the hooker. 7
10. Nate Myles
A busy start to the game but was not sighted for the remainder. It could be his last Origin game. 4
11. Matt Gillett
Looked tired after playing almost every minute of the series and was confined to tackling for most of the game. 6
12. Sam Thaiday
Made testing Matt Moylan's defence his No.1 mission. He couldn't spark the team in his second stint. 5
13. Corey Parker
Cozza bid farewell from the Origin arena with a trademark workmanlike performance that included 30 first half tackles. 5
14. Gavin Cooper
Queensland's oldest debutant followed his club formula: run off JT. It led to a debut try. 6
15. Josh McGuire
Injected mid-way through the first half and was typically strong either side of the break. 7
16. Aidan Guerra
Only sighted in the second half in this series with little impact. 4
17. Jacob Lillyman
Typical Queensland bench player: high work rate, no errors. 5
